PMGArchitects was established in 1991 as a full service architectural firm providing programming, planning, design, documentation and interior design services. The firm relies on the problem solving aspect of the architectural process by examining the functional, fiscal and aesthic components of each project. A balanced solution is formulated to achieve the client goals.
PMGA specializes in luxury residential and hospitality projects, both for new construction and renovations. Currently the firm is the architect for the interior of the Trump International Hotel and Tower in Chicago, a mixed use building of 2.5 million square feet. The 96 story building contains a 339 guest room hotel, 486 condominium residences, 100,000 square feet of retail, a health club/spa and is the tallest reinforced concrete structure in the world. When fully open the hotel expects to achieve a five star rating.
For the Blackstone Group, we have completed the design for their 144 unit luxury resort in Carmel Valley, California. Numerous developer groups have used PMGA to assist the programming, planning and massing studies during the feasibility phases.
The firm has completed numerous projects with Ian Schrager Hotels and was the architect for the Delano Hotel in Miami Beach with the renowned designer Philippe Starck. PMGArchitects has developed the renovation of the Madison Towers Hotel for the Italian operators and has planned a renovation of the St. Ermins Hotel in London for the same client.
Our work has been honored by a number of design awards including an AIA Honor Award, Interiors Award and two Awards of Merit. The firm’s designs are well respected and have been published in major professional journals.
Peter Michael Gumpel, as the firms’ principal, has over 25 years of experience in the profession and is director of each project. A graduate of the Harvard University Graduate School of Design, he has taught and lectured at numerous major schools and universities.
